On December 31, 2013, the Ministry of Security and Justice of the Netherlands and the Embassy of Mexico in the country confirmed that a Mexican citizen aged 33, was arrested by the Dutch police when he arrived from Latin America to the Schiphol Airport Amsterdam in the Netherlands using a false name, 30 December 2013.

In 2014 Jose Rodrigo Arechiga Gamboa, alias "Chino anthrax" was formally extradited from the Netherlands to the United States.

The alleged lieutenant of the Sinaloa Cartel arrived on an official flight from Amsterdam to San Diego at 2 pm, local time in Mexico on 10 July 2014. In the neighboring town was formally delivered into the custody of federal authorities and submitted Friday July 11 at 2 pm before Judge US Magistrate Mitchell D. Dembin.

There are reports that the "Chinese" was released on tracking in the year 2015, after which he returned to San Diego, Ca. trying to break the bracelet tracking who carried failing in the attempt and being recaptured between October and November. The charges against Arechiga Gamboa are the conspiracy to distribute controlled substances intended for importation and introduction of narcotics. Currently, one of his closest relatives (half-brother) resides in the state of Coahuila under an unknown name and active keeps the place in this sector. He is wanted by the authorities without data, photographs or some trail leading to his capture. In 2015 the "Chinese Anthrax" pleaded guilty in a court of San Diego, Ca. and could face up to 10 years 8 imprisonment.
